Filter Data

Filter data is an integral part of data analysis. Filter on data is used if we want to display records that meet specific criteria. We can apply filter on one or more column based on our requirement.
 
   How to filter data
   Filter data on Text Column:
   Objective: We want to display all the records of Dan Wilson Only. Apply filter on Agent Column with Dan Wilson name.
     
  • Select the range A1:J24
 
  • Select the Data tab on the Ribbon, then click the Filter command
  • Filter will be display on header of all the columns of the data.
  • Click on filter display on Agent Column as we want to filter the data on agent column only.
  • pop message will display unique name of agent.
  • Select Britta Simon Only.
      Conclusion: The below data display the records of Britta Simon Only.
    How to filter the data on multiple values.
  • for multiple values filter, select all the values from the drop down list.
  • In this example, we will select Britta Simon and John Frum.
Conclusion: The below table display the records of Britta Simon and John Frum Only.
  • Sort dialog box will appear on the screen
  • Select the column name you want to sort by.
  • In this example, we will sort the data on the basis of sale column , so we will select sale in Sort By Field.
  • Sort On should be cell values.
  • Order should be Largest to Smallest.
  • Click OK.
Conclusion: Table has been sorted from largest to smallest on Sale Column.
